Progress through research
At the Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité, the focus is on treatment based on the latest scientific findings.
A dedicated and highly qualified team of doctors, scientists and nursing staff at the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine conducts research into the continuous development of cardiological diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as part of national and international studies. Patients benefit from this knowledge on a daily basis.

Clinical study centre
The Clinical Study Centre of the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Benjamin Franklin Campus (CBF) is the coordination centre for academic-initiated and industry-sponsored studies. It is closely linked to the study centre of the Clinical Study Group (CSG) of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) and the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) of the DHZC. There is close co-operation with the Berlin Institute of Health at the Charité (BIH).
Clinical studies are an indispensable part of clinical research. This is the only way to obtain reliable data on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of cardiovascular diseases. Planning, conducting and analysing clinical trials requires a high level of clinical and methodological professionalism and expertise as well as structured cooperation between all partners involved.
As a university centre for cardiovascular medicine, we attach great importance to the development and implementation of clinical trials. We carry out a large number of clinical trials, giving our patients access to innovative developments in the detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
