How does the application and recruitment process work?

Once your application has been received, it can be viewed by the recruiting team and the relevant department. If your documents match our requirements profile well, we will invite you to an initial interview. This can take place in person on site or online.
The number of people involved in the selection process varies depending on the Department or clinic.
We usually find a match after one or two appointments (joint exchange and, if applicable, work shadowing). After our works council has approved the appointment, we will send you the employment documents by email and explain which documents we need from you for the appointment. We will, of course, be happy to help with any questions you may have.

What information and documents should I submit with my application?

Ideally, your application should include a covering letter, a CV, your qualifications and certificates. We indicate in the online form which information we require and which information can be submitted voluntarily.

Is it possible to sit in on classes, do clinical training or a year of practical training at the DHZC?

The DHZC offers placements for work shadowing, clinical traineeships and the final year of medical school. You can find all the information about our work shadowing placements here. You can find detailed information about clinical traineeships and final year placements here.

How flexible are my working hours at DHZC?

We naturally try to respond to the needs and wishes of our employees and explore the existing options.
At the DHZC, for example, we have a high rate of part-time work with various working time models. We also offer job sharing, in which two employees share a full-time position.
Depending on the department and the job (e.g. in administration), mobile working with flexible hours is also possible in some circumstances, to be agreed within the team.

Of course, doctors and nurses have fixed working hours and shift models. However, individual requests are taken into account as much as possible when creating the duty rosters.

How does the DHZC promote the reconciliation of family and career?

Charité has already received multiple certifications for its commitment to reconciling work and family life – and from 2024, it will also be rated. In the university category and as an employer, Charitéhas once again been awarded the ‘family-friendly university audit’ and ‘work and family audit’ seals of approval.

The specific family-friendly measures include, among other things, childcare services, flexible working time models, a mobile working service agreement, the option of compensatory time off in lieu, and information services for those caring for relatives.

Further information is available from the Family Office and Charité.
