Business development and innovation at the DHZC

A warm welcome!

In this new Department, we are working together with other Charité divisions to develop and implement innovative concepts in order to strengthen the DHZC as a leading institution in the field of national and international heart health, while at the same time improving the quality of our services for patients and continuously promoting the qualifications of our employees.

Business Development and Innovation

The Business Area Development and Innovation Department is headed by Dr rer. nat. Rolf Zettl and Saskia Blank.

Our main areas of work and current projects

Referrer management

By establishing a structured referral management system, we support the DHZC clinics in systematically interacting with relevant referring physicians. To this end, we are conducting a potential and satisfaction analysis together with and with the support of the DHZB Foundation and will build up a central CRM database in the future.

Network management

We support existing networks such as the aortic telephone, the heart failure networks and partners of the HerzCheck project in expanding their activities in order to ensure and improve the intersectoral (further) treatment of patients.

International partnerships

In close cooperation with the Medical Director Prof. Volkmar Falk, MD, our Department assumes central responsibility for up to three selected strategic partnerships with leading medical institutions worldwide in order to strengthen scientific cooperation and knowledge transfer and to establish training activities abroad.

Fundraising

In partnership with the DHZB Foundation, we are involved in fundraising to provide financial support for research projects and the long-term development of the DHZC.

Innovation partnerships

We have set ourselves the goal of establishing the DHZC as a leading clinical partner for the development of innovations in the field of cardiac medicine in order to give our employees exclusive and early access to new developments and thus improve the treatment of our patients. Among other things, we are currently working on the strategic and content-related organisation of the existing partnership with Philips.

Clinical studies

We are supporting a project team led by Deputy Medical Director Prof Ulf Landmesser in the development of a cross-site facility that coordinates all administrative processes in connection with the acquisition and management of clinical trials.

Business Intelligence

The aim of this focus area is to develop strategies for optimising patient treatments and the associated increase in revenue, which ensures the complete billing of all services provided and enables appropriate resource management. We work closely with the Digital Innovation Unit, which uses AI tools, among other things, to systematically analyse the enormous amounts of data generated by the DHZC.

Cardiogenetics

Genetic testing in cardiology (known as cardiogenetics) is becoming increasingly important in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. With this project, we would like to expand cardiogenetic diagnostics at the DHZC in a standardised manner in accordance with the latest guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in order to improve the treatment of identified patients as well as to initiate preventive measures at an early stage.
