Consultation hours
The Clinic for Cardiology, Angiology, and Intensive Care Medicine at the Virchow Clinic (CVK) campus offers regular medical consultations in the outpatient clinics listed below. Please bring your health insurance card and a referral from your family doctor or cardiologist to your first appointment of the quarter.
Patients who visit the outpatient clinic for severe heart failure and cardiomyopathies and the Marfan outpatient clinic require a referral marked with a cross in §116b.
Registration & Contact
Our cardiology outpatient clinic offers comprehensive care for patients with all types of heart disease, including pacemaker and defibrillator checks. We also have an emergency clinic for acute chest pain (Chest Pain Unit). We also care for inpatients at the German Heart Center.
We strive to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Due to the varying lengths of time required for different treatments, it may not always be possible to see patients strictly in order of arrival. Emergency patients always take priority. We ask for your understanding if there are waiting times.

During our heart health consultation hours in gynecology, we care for women who have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease or who want to specifically improve their heart health. We also care for pregnant women who have cardiovascular disease or are at increased risk of developing it. Our goal is to provide the best possible support during pregnancy, prevent complications, and protect your heart health in the long term.

The outpatient clinic for severe heart failure and cardiomyopathies is one of the core elements of our concept for the care of patients with heart failure. Depending on the existing cardiological connection, it is possible to provide a specialized second opinion, supplementary care, or complete care for patients with complex or advanced heart failure. Since the DHZC, together with Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, covers the entire spectrum of cardiovascular medicine, they jointly form the only supra-regional heart failure center in Berlin.

Our rhythm consultation hours are open to outpatients who require further diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation and advice on any type of cardiac arrhythmia.
Please remember to bring a referral from your treating physician and, if possible, bring any existing findings (e.g., ECGs) with you to your appointment. Please understand that telephone availability is limited in the mornings due to ongoing consultations and that it is therefore best to contact us in the afternoon.

Prof. Dr. Leif-Hendrik Boldt is also happy to advise you during private consultation hours.
The pacemaker and ICD consultation service is available for outpatient follow-up care for patients with implanted pacemakers and cardioverters/defibrillators. Upon request, our physicians will also determine whether a pacemaker or cardiac resynchronization therapy is required in individual cases.
In our pacemaker outpatient clinic, we monitor implanted devices from all manufacturers (Medtronic, Biotronik, Boston Scientific, St. Jude Medical, Impulse Dynamics) and are also the point of contact for cardiologists in private practice who would like to obtain a second opinion on a suspected malfunction.
For follow-up care, patients receive an outpatient follow-up appointment at our pacemaker outpatient clinic after device implantation (pacemaker, ICD, CRT, cardiac contractility modulation, event recorder, baroreceptor stimulation). There, a special “programming head” is applied to perform a completely painless check of the implanted system. Standard parameters (including stimulation thresholds, perception, and impedances) are measured, the battery life is checked, and the memory is read. If necessary, the programmed parameters are adjusted.

In our high-risk consultation hours for cardiovascular diseases, we care for people with a particularly high risk of heart and vascular diseases—for example, those with diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, lipid metabolism disorders, chronic inflammatory diseases, familial risks, or therapy-resistant courses. In order to identify individual risks at an early stage, we use a wide range of modern diagnostic methods, including ECG, stress tests, ultrasound examinations of the heart and blood vessels (echocardiography, duplex sonography) and, if necessary, other non-invasive imaging procedures, such as CT or MRI-based cardiac diagnostics. Together with you, we will develop a customized treatment and prevention plan that includes drug therapy, lifestyle and nutritional counseling, and regular follow-up appointments.
Hypertension Center
The DHZC Clinic for Cardiology, Angiology, and Intensive Care Medicine at the Virchow Clinic campus was awarded the title “Certified Hypertension Center DHL®” by the German Hypertension League (DHL) in early 2014. The DHZC Hypertension Center is under the medical direction of Prof. Dr. Philipp Stawowy. The clinic's employees are certified hypertensiologists by the German Hypertension League (Deutsche Hochdruckliga e.V.), thus guaranteeing a high level of professional competence.
Marfan Center at the DHZC
Outpatient consultation for patients with genetic aortic diseases. You will need a referral for the consultation. The primary goal of the examination is to determine whether you have such a disease and, if so, which one.

Special consultation hours for cardiological-neurological comorbidities
Our clinic offers special consultation hours for patients with cardiological-neurological comorbidities. These consultations are aimed at patients with neurological events (especially patients who have suffered a stroke) who have been diagnosed with a cardiac condition in the context of the acute neurological event and who require further specialized cardiac treatment.
Information for referring physicians
This outpatient clinic focuses on the cardiological co-treatment or diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic follow-up care of cardiological diseases in patients after acute stroke and other neurological diseases. This includes all cardiological diseases that may have been diagnosed for the first time in the context of a neurological event and that require further diagnostic clarification and specialist cardiological treatment:
- Ischemic heart disease
- Heart failure
- Myocardial diseases
- PFO and LAA closure
- Valvular heart disease
- Heart malformations
- Atrial fibrillation diagnostics
- Ablation treatment
- Secondary prophylaxis
At our private clinic, we treat, advise, and care for private patients with all types of heart disease.

In our psychocardiology consultation hours, we care for people whose heart health and mental health influence each other. Many cardiovascular diseases—such as coronary heart disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, or high blood pressure—are often accompanied by psychological stress such as anxiety, depression, stress, or exhaustion. Conversely, psychological factors can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease or have a negative impact on its progression.
Our goal is to identify these connections at an early stage and work with you to develop a holistic approach to treatment and prevention.
In the Structural Heart Interventions Program (SHIP), we combine the medical planning and implementation of all catheter-based treatments of heart valves in adults. The treatments performed for heart valve diseases primarily include TAVI procedures to replace the aortic valve, as well as catheter-based treatments for mitral and tricuspid valve diseases.
Here we offer our patients all innovative treatment options such as sail-based therapies and catheter-based mitral and tricuspid valve replacement.
Outpatient care
The SHIP outpatient clinic complements the program by providing a central point of contact for initial consultations, indication assessments, pre-hospital care, anesthesia information, and follow-up care. Patients are coordinated and comprehensively cared for by a multi-professional team. Located at Mittelallee 2 (2nd floor), the SHIP Outpatient Clinic offers a central point of contact for indication assessment, pre-hospital care, anesthesia information, follow-up care, and study opportunities. A multi-professional team cares for patients on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
