Job description cardiac catheterisation
At DHZC, more than 15,000 cardiac catheterisations are performed each year, covering the entire spectrum of modern interventional cardiology and angiology. 15 state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation laboratories and 3 hybrid operating rooms are available for the treatment of coronary heart disease, structural heart disease (heart valve disease), peripheral vascular disease, cardiac arrhythmias and congenital heart disease.
Thanks to our highly experienced, interprofessional team, we are able to offer all therapy options at the highest level and according to the latest scientific standards, while continuously contributing to the further development of treatment methods.
According to the Tagesspiegel guide ‘Berlin's Best Clinics’, the DHZC clinics are the departments most frequently recommended by Berlin-based doctors for cardiac catheterisation, pacemakers and abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery. At the heart of this nationwide and probably most comprehensive regional clinic comparison is a survey of Berlin-based doctors asking which hospital they would recommend for the treatment of certain diseases.
We, the team of the cardiac catheterisation laboratory, play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and vascular diseases. We work in a high-tech environment.

The tasks of the FD colleagues in the cardiac catheterisation laboratory
Preparation and assistance: We are responsible for preparing the catheterisation laboratory and assisting with the procedures. This includes providing the necessary equipment, materials and instruments, monitoring sterility and preparing the patient for the procedure. We assist the doctors during the procedure by, among other things, handing them catheters and instruments and ensuring that the equipment is in working order.
Patient care: An essential part of our work is caring for patients before, during and after the procedure. We monitor vital signs, reassure patients and explain the examination process to them. Our tasks also include recognising and reacting quickly in emergency situations.
Technical support: In the cardiac catheter laboratory, we functional service employees are also responsible for operating the complex technical equipment. This includes X-ray machines, ultrasound devices and monitors for heart function, among other things. We are able to recognise and rectify technical problems.
Documentation: Documenting the course of the procedure is another important aspect of our work. We collect data and results that are important for the patient's further treatment and aftercare.
