Newsweek: „World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2024”
The clinics of the Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité (DHZC) are among the best specialist cardiac clinics in the world, according to the latest rankings published by the US magazine ‘Newsweek’.
As in the previous year, the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery is ranked sixth on the list of the world's best 150 award-winning hospitals, making it the best cardiac surgery centre in Europe.
The ‘World's Best Specialised Hospitals 2024’ ranking recognises the world's leading hospitals in 12 medical fields. It is based on an online survey to which Newsweek and the international statistics portal Statista said they had invited tens of thousands of medical experts - including doctors, hospital managers and specialists - from over 20 countries. The results of this survey were then analysed and verified by an international panel of experts. In addition, the hospitals' quality certificates were checked and quality data was analysed.

Tagesspiegel: ‘Berlin's best clinics’ 2023
The ‘Berlin's best clinics’ guide published by the Berliner Tagesspiegel newspaper ranks the DHZC among the most recommended clinics for pacemaker and cardiac catheterisation procedures by practising Berlin doctors. The DHZC took first place in both categories.
Germany's most comprehensive regional hospital comparison is based on a survey of practising doctors in the capital: 2,400 doctors named what they considered to be the best hospitals for 53 medical conditions that require inpatient treatment.
‘Focus Clinic List 2023’
According to the ‘Focus Clinic List 2023’, the DHZC is one of the best German clinics for heart surgery, cardiology, rhythmology and vascular surgery, with top marks for reputation, medical quality, care and hygiene standards. As a result, the DHZC is also recognised by Focus as a ‘Top regional hospital’ and rated as a ‘Top clinic for international patients’.
Data from all 1,682 public hospitals in Germany is included in the research. The hospitals' legally required “structured quality reports” are analysed as well as quality certificates from specialist associations. 30,000 doctors from private practices and clinics were asked which hospital they would go to themselves or send a relative to.
